SOGamer’s Current State

Posted by Dustin S on September 23, 2007

I’m sure anyone who followed this blog has noticed that I have lost my passion to write about games. Maybe it’s the fact that I was just chasing traffic or maybe it’s because I have no connections for any “real” stories…

Right now I am thinking of archiving this blog and starting over focusing strictly on casual gaming and marketing to those between the ages of 20 and 80. Yes, I am going to go after the “Nintendo” crowd. I feel that the reason gaming is “only shooters” or “only hardcore gaming” is because of the lack of representation of gaming that are not “hardcore” or “shooters”….

Call it what you will but I want to make a difference in gaming and this blog could be the key… Stay tuned for another update on what I decide.

Why Parents Should Rely Less On ESRB

Posted by Dustin S on September 16, 2007

The ESRB Ratings Banner

I’m going to begin by pointing out that this is a rant. And just like all rants, this is going to be a viewpoint that will be questionable and may or may not be favorable. Regardless of your position of the matter I want you to read to the end of the article and post your unedited comments after you are finished reading. Throughout your read, feel free to click any links since they will be opened in new windows so you can easily return to this article. If you’re only concerned with what I have to say about the ESRB, read the final section labeled “My Take On ESRB And Parenting”.

Capcom’s Mystery Announcements

Posted by Dustin S on September 15, 2007

Capcom's corporate logo

It was reported by GamePlayer that Capcom is planning to make three huge announcements at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show (TGS) this September 20 to 23.

Here at SOGamer we decided to join in on the speculation of what these three games would be but first we’ll look at the facts.

  1. It can’t be the highly anticipated Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 game because EA owns the Marvel license right now.
  2. It can’t be Resident Evil 5 because it’s already been announced with the exception of a release date.
  3. It can’t be a Viewtiful Joe sequel because Clover drove that one into the ground before they were liquidated for all of their assets and forced to create a new company called Seed.

Using those facts we came down to what we feel is a very believable list. Now we are going to mention two games that have already been semi-confirmed since they weren’t denied nor agreed when presented questions regarding their existence.

  • Okami: The Legend Begins (Wii)
  • “Capcom Vs. DC” or “DC Vs. Capcom” (PS3 / 360)
  • Dead Rising 2 (360, PC)

Let’s see if our prediction is correct, in the mean time, why don’t you leave comments with what YOU think it is.

Rogue Vampires - New Free Text-Based Online RPG

Posted by GamerGirl on September 8, 2007

Vampires!

Rogue Vampires is a brand new text-based vampire roleplaying game. And when I say brand new game, I mean BRAND SPANKING NEW it’s only 25 days old. The game is already quickly growing in popularity, so far there are already 2810 registered users.

In the game you have Energy, Courage, and Mood bars for your character. Energy is used for a few things like training your fighting stats, attacking other vampires, and breaking other vampires out of house arrest. Courage is needed to convert humans into vampires. And your mood can effect some things in the game like how much stats you get from training.

Did I catch your interest? Check more after the break…
